Hi There! Best Sicily came to be a few years ago when two people who were passionate about health and organic products realized a need for a marketplace to offer the best 100% organic non gmo products sourced from Sicily.
We are here to make your life easier! Despite being a relatively new platform, our roots go way back. 100 years ago, Mr. Asaro left Sicily and moved to America where he began importing his extra virgin olive oil to the United States.
The history of the Asaro Farm dates back even further as the Asaro family has been nuturing olives and producing high quality oils for over 100s years. The soil that the olives are rooted in is over 2,700 years old. What distinguishes Asaro farms from other producers is that 97% of the olive trees grown in the valley of Belice are Nocellara del Belice olives. These olives, also known as Castelvetrano, have a distinct bright green hue and a dense, meaty flesh with smooth buttery skin.
Tommaso is the founder of Best Sicily. Twenty years ago he boldly decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and move to NYC. Tommaso is based in New York now but still masterfully manages olive oil production in Italy. In 2005, impassioned by a mission to convert his family’s farm to an organic and sustainable property, he took 150 acres that had been in his family for over 100 years and instituted modern methods and techniques. Tommaso’s focus on exellence and quality is what makes his farming techniques incomparable to other oil producers in the region. He is passionate about producing the finest sustainable olive oils and excited for Best Sicily to simplify the shopping experience for all customers.
